What's Happening With Cloud-Based Business Communications

The global cloud PBX market is poised for 23.5 percent compound annual growth between this year and 2024, says The health care vertical is leading hosted PBX adoption.

“Hosted PBX solutions offer features and functionalities, such as instant messaging and real-time communications, to enable practitioners to stay connected in the high-paced complex health care environment,” says. “Cloud-based telecommunications, in the form of hosted PBX services and VoIP telephony, enable medical professionals to have access to their patients and centers of operations from heterogeneous locations, at any time of the day.”

Cloud-based business communications and collaboration solutions provide organizations of all types with scalability and savings. But potential barriers to adoption of such solutions include integration with CRM systems, suggests.

The field of cloud-based business communications and collaboration solutions providers is broad. It includes such players as Allworx, Avaya, Barracuda, BullsEye Telecom, Cisco, D-Link, Megapath, Microsoft, Mitel, NEC, Nextiva, Panasonic, RingCentral, and Vonage.

Smaller cloud communications providers like Northwest Telecom out of Portland, Ore., also are seeing good uptake in such solutions. The company recently announced it’s seen record sales growth for its cloud phone system.

Cloud Talk makes it easy for businesses to add new users quickly. It features an advanced auto attendant, business SMS, cloud PBX, customizable hold music, and voicemail-to-email capabilities. And if a business loses power, the cloud-based phone system automatically reroutes to users’ cell phones.

Northwest Telecom indicates it also offers the best of both worlds when it comes to being local and national. It provides customer support out of local offices. But its membership in the Cloud Voice Alliance provides it with nationwide coverage and resources.
