Unifonic Raises $21 Million

Saudi-based Unifonic has raised $21 million in a Series A round.

The company says this is one of the largest Series A events to date in the MENA region. STV led the round. RTF, Endeavor Catalyst, ELM, and Raed Ventures also contributed.

Unifonic has been compared to Twilio. It provides businesses with cloud-based communication tools including an API platform that allows for integration of text- and voice-based solutions.

The company provides access to more than 720 mobile networks in 190 countries across nine regional markets. More than 5,000 business customers, including Careem, Dominos Pizza, Jarir Bookstore, and HungerStation, rely on Unifonic solutions.

“By combining cloud-based software, telephony APIs and real-time data intelligence, Unifonic eliminates the need for costly hardware infrastructure and makes business communication simple and cost-effective,” it says. “The company said it has been profitable for over eight years, with double-digit monthly revenue growth and over 100 employees in five countries.”

Unifonic plans to use the funding to expand its sales effort to new markets, reach new industry sectors, and expand its product platform with machine learning.
