Vonage to Acquire NewVoiceMedia

Cloud communications is a fiercely competitive and crowded space, which is consolidating. Mergers and acquisitions are a means for providers to compile comprehensive portfolios fit to support the mounting demands of the modern workforce.

Vonage reached an agreement to acquire NewVoiceMedia. Vonage will purchase the Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS ) provider for $350 million giving the cloud communications provider a more complete communications portfolio.

"We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of NewVoiceMedia, which represents a major step forward in the realization of our strategic vision to deliver a differentiated, fully-programmable communications solution that drives more meaningful customer interactions and better outcomes for businesses," said Vonage CEO Alan Masarek

Answering why NewVoiceMedia makes for an attractive purchase is easy, as the largest privately-owned, pure play, cloud contact center company was named in the Leader’s quadrant of Gartner’s CCaaS Magic Quadrant as well as being named to Forbes Magazine Cloud 100 for the third year in a row.

The addition gives Vonage a fighting chance at rotund market share of a space the IDC values at $9 billion today, and projected to be in the neighborhood of $80 million in the coming years.  NewVoiceMedia builds presence with enterprise and mid-market customers in addition to deepening CRM integrations and go-to-market relationships.

"This acquisition accelerates Vonage's growth strategy and leadership position in cloud communications, strengthens our presence with global mid-market and enterprise clients, and deepens our integrations and key go-to-market relationships with CRM providers, especially"

At the heart of all successful organizations is communications and collaboration, and cloud communications are rapidly becoming the method of choice.
