DHS Dubs Zoom for FedRAMP

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander as they say. We read about the enterprise and SMB landscape taking advantage of the cloud for collaboration and communications on a daily basis. For software vendors to move into the public sector the requirements are rigorous. Any solution sold to the government should be second to none – Especially when it comes to our nation’s security.

Zoom announced the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is sponsoring Zoom for Government for FedRAMP accreditation, with the process underway. Once completed, federal agencies gain access to the cloud-based Zoom audio and video conferencing solutions.

The expectation is for completion by the end of the calendar year, and at that point Zoom would gain moderate baseline accreditation. In another year, the cloud communications provider can earn high baseline and the ability to sell to the Department of Justice and Department of Defense.

“As the leader in modern video communications, Zoom has revolutionized the way global enterprises work,” said David Berman, president of Zoom. “We are excited to take our comprehensive, secure, scalable, and user-friendly solution to the public sector. In the next five years, we believe Zoom will become the leader in video communications for the federal government, too.”

Enterprise collaboration, communication and security is certainly front of mind; national security starts on the front line – Cloud communications are capable of supporting that as well.

Are your communications in the cloud?
